Rio Skagit Short Head

These short, fat 20 foot Skagit heads were developed by Mike McCune, Scott O'Donnell, and Ed Ward (M.O.W.) who have all guided full time in the Northwest  and Alaska for over 20 years now. They have pioneered the trend toward smaller, lighter two-handed fly rods. Our staff are all fans of these great guys and their contribution to the two-handed sport.

 

 

These special short Skagit heads are perfect for throwing bigger flies on shorter two-handed rods especially with the new Rio MOW tips.

 

Rio Skagit Short heads are available in 50 grain increments from 275 grains to 625 grains.

 

Sizes: 275, 325, 375, 425, 475, 525, 575, and 625 grains

 

**These short fat Skagit heads will throw all the "junk" you can pile on in front of them.

 

**Some time down the road they might come in 25 grain increments.

 

**These lines are the best on small to medium brushy Steelhead rivers.

 

 

**The new Airflo "Skagit Switch heads" are very similar and come in slightly different grain weights too.
